At Mary Queen of Heaven, our approach to Numeracy is guided by the MACS Vision for Engagement and Instruction. This means every child experiences rich, hands-on learning that sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and challenges them to grow.
We make learning visible by using clear goals in student-friendly language, helping children understand Where am I going? How am I going? and Where to next?
Our Maths lessons follow a clear structure. Teachers use explicit teaching to introduce new concepts, give children time for rehearsal to practise and strengthen skills, and regularly check for understanding so that every child is supported and challenged at their point of need.
Daily reviews also give children the chance to revisit and consolidate important knowledge, making sure they can apply their learning in future Maths.
Alongside curriculum content, we help children develop important life skills such as problem-solving, reasoning and thinking about their own learning.
