A word from the Principal
Dear Families,
WOW have we had a Wonderful Start to Term 3!
A heartfelt thank you to all our families for helping make the first four weeks of Term 3 such a wonderful success. Although it has been a short term, it has certainly been a busy one, with so many opportunities for our students to learn, connect and give back to others.
Our year 4s celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist. It was the most beautiful sacrament, shared with School of The Good Shepherd. We thank Father Dishan for leading us in the pace and for working with us on our faith journey
Our community once again showed incredible generosity through our Egg Carton Collection in support of Helping Hands in Airport West. Every donation will make a real difference to those in need, and we are so grateful for your kindness.
Our Pyjama Day was another fantastic success, raising valuable funds for the incredible Make-A-Wish Australia. This remarkable organisation creates life-changing wishes and treasured memories for children living with critical illnesses. While we hope none of our families ever need the support of Make-A-Wish, we are proud to partner with such an inspiring charity and to teach our students the importance of compassion, generosity and giving back to the wider community.
On behalf of everyone at Hungry Jack’s and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation and the incredible support that Mary Queen of Heaven School has shown once again this year.
Raising $615 for Make-A-Wish is a fantastic achievement, and doing so for the third consecutive year speaks volumes about the school’s dedication, generosity, and compassion. At the last day of Term 2, you told me, “We’ll do better/bigger this year,” but I certainly didn’t expect this much! Your outstanding effort has truly exceeded expectations, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Thank you for being such a valued part of this mission. I sincerely appreciate your continued support and look forward to working together again to create even more smiles, hope, and unforgettable memories for the children living with critical illness.
Congratulations to Red Joseph House, who were our highest fundraisers on the day and celebrated their efforts with a well-deserved hot chip lunch last Friday. Many thanks to our friends at Seafood Delish on Barrymore Road for donating the prize! Thank you to everyone who embraced the fun by coming to school in their pyjamas and supporting such a worthwhile cause.
We also celebrated Friendship Day, with students enthusiastically taking part in activities that strengthened connections and celebrated what it means to be a good friend. It was especially exciting to officially launch our Friendship Tree, a beautiful symbol of belonging, kindness and inclusion. The day was a wonderful reminder of the importance of living our school values each day and ensuring every child feels known, valued and connected within our community.
Hillview Road Crossing – Our Ongoing Advocacy for Safety
A sincere thank you to the families who have taken the time to contact Hume City Council and advocate for greater safety at our Hillview Road school crossing. Your voices matter, and I greatly appreciate your support.
I continue to advocate regularly and relentlessly with Hume City Council, the relevant traffic authorities and our local Members of Parliament, calling for a crossing supervisor to be instated as a matter of urgency.
I want to acknowledge just how concerning and frustrating the ongoing safety situation along Hillview Road is. I share your concerns and am deeply frustrated by the lack of adequate supervision at our crossing, particularly given the significant number of children, families and pedestrians using this area each morning and afternoon.
I strongly encourage all families to continue contacting Hume City Council directly and requesting that a crossing supervisor be provided as soon as possible. The more voices we have advocating for the safety of our children and community, the stronger our message will be.

In the meantime, please take extra care when travelling along Hillview Road. We ask that all drivers exercise patience and courtesy, particularly during drop-off and pick-up times, and remain highly alert to the large number of children and pedestrians moving around the school.
The safety of our children and families must remain our collective priority. Thank you for continuing to stand with us as we advocate for a safer Hillview Road.
Please refer to the nForma shared earlier today about our change over to MACSEYE as the provider for Before & After Care. This change will take place in term 1 2027. BIG Childcare will remain our provider for the January holiday period. More information will be here in due course.
Late arrivals continue to be an issue for some families. As per the information shared earlier this week, individual families will be contacted in the coming weeks so that we can work together to ensure all children arrive at school on time and don’t miss crucial learning opportunities.
In recent weeks we have had some exciting news from our staff. Congratulations to Lisa Michielin and her family on the arrival of their precious daughter and sister Hazel Millie.
Congratulations also to Amy and Dana who recently announced their pregnancies! With both babies due in January, both Amy and Dana will finish up at the end of the school year.
Bullying No Way: National Week of Action – Monday 17 August
Creating a school where every child feels safe, respected and valued continues to be one of our highest priorities.
On Monday 17 August, we will recognise the Bullying No Way: National Week of Action by reinforcing the importance of kindness, inclusion, courage and respect.
We encourage our students to speak up whenever something doesn’t feel right. We can only address concerns if we know about them, and we want every child to know there are always trusted adults ready to listen and help.
Students are invited to wear a splash of purple with their school uniform as a visible reminder that everyone deserves to feel they belong.
Together, let us continue building the culture we are so proud of—a community where kindness is celebrated, differences are embraced and every child knows they are valued.

Our 2026 NAPLAN Results Are Shining!
We are delighted to celebrate the strong learning outcomes reflected in our 2026 NAPLAN results across Years 3 and 5.
When we look at our Year 3 and Year 5 results together, our students are performing above the state mean across all five NAPLAN learning domains – Reading, Writing, Spelling, Numeracy, and Grammar & Punctuation.
